The Trackhouse Racing rider recovered from a sprint-race crash to take control of Sunday’s race after starting second on the grid.
Championship leader Jorge Martin finished second after suffering a setback at the opening corner when his ride-height device malfunctioned.
Marco Bezzecchi completed the podium in third.
Fernandez’s comeback
Fernandez’s victory was particularly impressive because of what happened earlier in the weekend.
After crashing during the sprint, he responded strongly when the main race arrived.
His pace allowed him to move into control early and build a comfortable advantage.
Martin limits the damage
Martin had started from pole and won the sprint, so Sunday’s result represented a missed opportunity for a second major victory of the weekend.
However, finishing second still allowed him to protect his championship advantage.
Alex Marquez suffered a late mistake that opened the door for Bezzecchi to take third.
Defending world champion Marc Marquez finished seventh after starting sixth.
